Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is known for his ability to score the basketball but on Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks, he was dishing rather than swishing.

Murray tallied a career-high 11 assists in the first half of his team's game against the Mavericks, something that was certainly unexpected.

The craziest part is how quickly Murray was able to achieve that feat, essentially doing it in a quarter-and-a-half. He would finish the half with 13 assists.

Murray is having an impressive season, averaging 17.5 points, 4.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. His shooting percentages are a bit concerning, however, as he is making just 42.2 percent of his field-goal attempts, 30.0 percent of his three-point tries and 85.9 percent of his free throws.

The 21-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by the Nuggets with the seventh overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.

He played in all 82 games during his rookie campaign, registering 9.9 points, 2.6 boards and 2.1 assists over 21.5 minutes a night while shooting 40.4 percent from the floor, 33.4 percent from long distance and 88.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Last year, Murray had a nice, efficient season, hitting on 45.1 percent of his shots, 37.8 percent of his triples and 90.5 percent of his foul shots while posting 16.7 points per game.

Denver has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the NBA this season. While many did expect the Nuggets to be a playoff contender, hardly anyone thought they would be this impressive, as they currently own a record of 20-9 and sit in first place in the Western Conference standings.
