If people didn't think Nikola Jokic was a superstar, after last night's game, they better. He had his coming out party which was fitting as it was the last night before the All-Star game. Jokic set an NBA record recording the fastest triple-double ever completing it in only 14:55 seconds of court time.
That passed the previous record set by Jim Tucker of Syracuse Nationals in 1955 who had a triple-double in 17 minutes.
Jokic ended up playing 30 minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks putting up 30 points, 17 assists and 15 rebounds. He finished 11-14 from the field and 3-3 from deep.
After the game, there were all kinds of compliments from teammates and coaches, but the best might have been from head coach Mike Malone who compared him to some of the best in the game today.
According to Harrison Wind of BSN Denver:
“It's kind of like when I was fortunate enough to coach a guy like LeBron (James) or Chris Paul or Steph Curry. You recognize greatness,” Malone said. “Obviously, there are moments in the game when you are so locked in and you're worried about getting another stop, but some of the plays that he makes and how he makes the right play over and over again and how he makes all of his teammates better players. I do admire that. I do recognize that.
At some point, you have to not focus on each individual play, and look at what Jokic did as a whole last night, and realize how special what he did was.
Not only did he have a special game though, he led the Nuggets to a big win before the break beating the Bucks 134-123.
Jokic is turning into one of the most exciting players in the NBA due to his unrivaled passing ability from the center position that is creating the Nuggets into a really fun team to watch. After more performances like this, it won't be long before he starts getting compared more to some of the best players in the league and best passing big men of all-time as well.
