Nikola Jokic is one of the finalists for the 2021-22 MVP Award alongside Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the Denver Nuggets star will be happy if he wins it, he won't have a problem about losing it either.

Speaking to reporters after the Nuggets' Game 5 loss and playoffs exit on Wednesday, Jokic highlighted that winning the MVP isn't a big deal for him. Should he win it again, he said he'll celebrate with “some music” and “beer” with friends. But if he doesn't, well, so be it:

“If I don't get it, I'm not going to die,” Jokic said, per Ryan Blackburn of Denver Stiffs.

Nikola Jokic will be the 13th player in NBA history to win back-to-back MVPs should he be able to snatch the honor this year as well. Giannis Antetokounmpo was the last one to do it, achieving the feat in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

As usual, however, Jokic couldn't care less about individual accolades. He has never really campaigned for himself for the award, letting his game do the talking for himself.

Nonetheless, with the work he put in to carry the Nuggets to the playoffs, he definitely has a strong case for the award. Embiid and Antetokounmpo deserve it as well, but when it comes to singlehandedly putting a team on his back, no one did it better than Jokic.

It remains to be seen if he can win it given that it's quite a tight race. If he doesn't, don't expect the Joker to take to social media or to the media and gripe about it. He's just that kind of superstar.
