San Antonio Spurs legendary coach Gregg Popovich had some praise for the Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic after the Spurs and Nuggets faced off last night, comparing him to Larry Bird.

“Jokic is a 7 foot Larry Bird type guy. The way he passes and reads things, he's incredible,” Popovich said.

Getting praise from Popovich is not something that happens every day, and shows just how talented the Nuggets big man is.

Jokic, the reigning MVP had an impressive night in the Nuggets 102-96 win against the Spurs. He finished with 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assist.

He hit a tough shot to seal the deal on Friday:

The Nuggets star is looking to repeat as the back-to-back MVP and having impressive nights like he did last night versus San Antonio will certainly allow him to get a jump start.

The Nuggets are 2-0 this season and the Spurs are 1-1. San Antonio will host the defending champions, Milwaukee Bucks, as they will go up against another MVP in Giannis Antetokounmpo. Denver will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.

Larry Bird won 3 MVP trophies back to back to back. Getting this praise shows how special a talent Jokic is.

When Popovich gives you this type of recognition, Jokic should print it out and put it on your fridge because it doesn't happen often.
