NetEase Games revealed the Onmyoji: The World official cinematic announcement trailer during their annual games showcase NetEase Connect.

Onmyoji: The World Official Cinematic Announcement Trailer

The Onmyoji: The World trailer portrayed a Noh drama devolving to chaos. We see Onmyoji heroes battle it out with puppets in Ancient Japan, and we can just hope that the game's actual graphics engine can handle this kind of graphics. That's not a big ask – given the jump in graphical fidelity between Onmyoji and Onmyoji Arena.

The newest title in the Onmyoji franchise takes the player and the Onmyoji heroes to Ancient Japan. Keeping with tradition, this spin-off title will have a different gameplay style as what we've seen in previous Onmyoji titles. While the original featured a deep, customizable card battling game, and Onmyoji Arena featured heroes in a MOBA battle arena, this latest game will have turn-based style gameplay. It will most likely fall under the Adventure RPG genre as well, but more details should come in before we can be sure.

Onmyoji: The World might end up appearing in next-gen consoles, too. However, this isn't confirmed yet. NetEase Games didn't announce which platforms the game will be available in. However, they noted that the game will support cross-platform play. Whether or not that means the game will also have a multiplayer component is still up to debate.

Apart from the trailer itself, NetEase games didn't give much information. Heck, they didn't even tease a release date. However, fans of Onmyoji will surely want to keep updated. So, be sure to follow ClutchPoints Gaming on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news on the title.
