Syracuse Orange freshman Joseph Girard left high school as New York's all-time leading scorer. It's resulted in some relatively large college basketball expectations being hurled on the young man's shoulders.

With the Orange losing 55 percent of last season's offense, coupled with the young man joining four other freshman on Syracuse, there's good reason to believe he will be given every chance to live up to his other-worldly billing.

For him, though, he's still adjusting to playing for the famed college basketball program.

“It’s crazy,” Joseph Girard said at the team's media day. “I played football games in the dome before. To think that I’m going to be here playing basketball repping Syracuse this year is really different. You’ve kind of got to pinch yourself — is this really happening?”

It is not yet fully known what role the young man will play in the Orange's rotation, but he's projected to be a vital part of it.

Until then, and at least until Syracuse settles on a more set rotation, expect him to be worked in and out of lineups, eventually earning heavy minutes.
