With September right around the corner, MLB rosters are expanding. That means we'll be seeing some new faces around the league. For the Baltimore Orioles, however, they're calling up two familiar faces.

Colton Cowser and Joey Krehbiel are being promoted. Via Roch Kubatko:

“Orioles are adding Colton Cowser and Joey Krehbiel to expanded roster per source.”

Cowser, one of the best prospects in the system, really struggled in his first stint with the O's in 2023. He hit just .115 in 26 games and failed to club a single homer despite showing power throughout his minor league career thus far. The hope is Cowser can come back up and hopefully help Baltimore in their playoff run.

As for Krehbiel, he's a 30-year-old relief pitcher who was a mainstay in the Orioles' pen in 2022, making 56 appearances and producing a 3.90 ERA. In 23′ though, the right-hander has faced just five big league hitters. He is absolutely dealing in Triple-A, posting a 2.75 ERA in 31 outings.

Evident by the Orioles' AL-best 83-50 record, Brandon Hyde's squad doesn't exactly need a whole lot of help at the moment. This ball club is absolutely flourishing on both sides of the ball and has a fantastic young core who are showing up and performing every day. That being said, it's always nice to have another arm in the pen like Krehbiel, who has experience at the MLB level. As for Cowser, there are still very high hopes for him because of the way he's played in the ranks. The 23-year-old was the fifth overall pick in 2021 and is slashing .313 in Norfolk.

Baltimore is 1.5 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in first place in the AL East.
