The 2021 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) gave Hades the most number of awards among games this year. Proclaimed as the “Best Game” for this year, Supergiant's game took home four awards from the prestigious body.
HADES IS THE 2021 BAFTA GAME AWARDS BEST GAME OF THE YEAR
Great games deserve to be recognized. The best way for the industry to show its appreciation of once-in-a-generation games is by giving them the awards they deserve. This year, BAFTA decided to honor Hades, the roguelike game from indie darling Supergiant Games. The “Best Game” Award, the most prestigious title from this race, is just one of the four awards that the game received. BAFTA also awarded the “Game Design” Award for Hades‘ mastery of the roguelike gameplay loop and its unique approach to progression. They also awarded the game the “Artistic Achievement” award for its beautiful renditions of characters from Greek Mythology. Finally, the titular character's voice actor, Logan Cunningham, who also lent his voice for multiple other characters, won the “Performer in a Supporting Role” Award.
THE LAST OF US PART 2, ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS AND THE OTHER WINNERS
Hades, winning four awards, proved to be the biggest winner in this year's BAFTA Game Awards. Among this year's lineup, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2 won the second most number of awards. The Last of Us Part 2 took home the “Animation” Award, as well as the publicly-voted “EE Game of the Year” award. Actress Laura Bailey, who portrayed Abby won the “Performer in a Leading Role” award. The only other game to receive two awards is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which won both the “Game Beyond Entertainment” and “Multiplayer” Awards.
