Indiana Pacers president Kevin Pritchard will be searching for a new head coach this offseason after firing Nate McMillan.

The Pacers got swept by the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2020 playoffs at Disney World. McMillan won only three postseason games with Indiana.

While speaking to Pacers reporters about the Pacers' coaching search, Pritchard said it's his job to “find a new-age coach.”

“I think it shows you by the actions of the last few days our ownership expects more,” the Pacers exec said Monday, via the Assocaited Press.

“It's up to me to step up to the plate and find the right person to lead the locker room, be creative and find a new age coach. We' ve been in the playoffs, we keep getting into the playoffs, we come up with fourth-best record in the East and that´s something we' re proud of. But we want to play well in the playoffs.”

The Pacers got swept by the Boston Celtics in 2019. However, they were playing without All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo.

At Disney World, Indiana was without star big man Domantas Sabonis. So while McMillan did struggle with the Pacers once the playoffs started, he didn't always have a healthy team to coach.

It will be interesting to see who Pritchard decides to interview and ultimately hire as his new coach. Odds are the front office will speak with Oladipo since he's the franchise player.
