The trade of Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis this past offseason was one that left many scratching their heads as the Indiana Pacers were seemingly okay with unloading their star player for a less-than-eye-popping price.

Yet for Pacers president Kevin Pritchard, the trade has been rewarding for both parties.

“I think it was a win-win in terms of the trade,” said Pritchard in an interview with ESPN 107.5 The Fan. “Paul is at a place where he has a chance to compete at the highest level against some of the best teams and for us we hit a little bit of the reset button, but Victor (Oladipo) has been at the very least super special for us and somebody we can really build around.”

Oladipo has been a vastly different player than he was in his lone season with the Thunder, as the only hardware he took home was the Dunk of the Year at the end of the season after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

This time around, the athletic two-guard has put All-Star-caliber numbers, helping him get his first nod.

His teammate, Sabonis, has played himself into an integral rotation player and a starter as an effective and sharp opportunist that can play the power forward and center positions.

“Domas is like Hoosier basketball,” said Pritchard. “He’s a lunch pale, hard hat kind of guy. We love that. That’s exactly what we want. What we forget about Domas is that he’s 21 years old. Him and Myles are the same age.”

Both of these pieces seemed to pale in comparison of George, but the Pacers have gone on to stay in playoff contention, standing in sixth place of the Eastern Conference, likely fetching a rematch with the Cleveland Cavaliers if the seeds remain the same by the end of the season.
