According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Indiana Pacers and center Myles Turner have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $72 million. Wojnarowski adds that the contract could rise to $80 million with bonuses, although that was originally thought to be the base value of Turner's contract extension.

The 22-year-old Turner is one of the better young centers in the NBA. An alert shot-blocker who can stretch the floor out to 3-point range on offense, his combination of athleticism, rim-protection and versatility allows the Pacers to dominate smaller lineups. When playing small-ball lineups, opposing teams aren't usually expecting to face a strong interior defender with the mobility to step out on the perimeter and a solid shooting stroke to boot.

He's by no means the most fluid player on the court, particularly when defending players on the perimeter, but he's a player made for today's NBA.

Turner has averaged 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in his three-year career while shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three-point range. He's been just as valuable in the playoffs, averaging 11.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from 3-point range.

Although Turner's 3-point numbers don't look particularly special when looking at his career as a whole, he made 35.7 percent of his threes in the 2017-18 regular season before knocking down 46.2 percent of his triples in the playoffs.

With Turner locked up for the next four seasons, the Pacers will now have two cornerstone players under contract through at least the 2020-21 campaign, as 2018 Most Improved Player of the Year and All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo signed a four-year deal last summer.
