The Indiana Pacers received some terrible news over the past few days pertaining to cornerstone star Victor Oladipo's quad injury. It was recently confirmed that the 26-year-old will require surgery on his ruptured quad tendon, and that he is officially done for the season.

This could not have come at a worse time for the surging Pacers, and head coach Nate McMillan recently admitted that the team have been pretty emotional with the loss of their superstar.

“It was a lot of emotions,” McMillan said, via ESPN. “Whenever you lose a guy to an injury such as that — a season-ending injury — a lot of emotions are involved. But what you have to do, which is part of the game, you have to move on.”

Injuries are always terrible, but this was an especially huge blow for the Pacers as they lost their star player in the midst of a breakout season.

The Pacers still hold the third spot in the Eastern Conference, but with a number of teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics breathing down their necks, Indiana will definitely have a difficult time fending off these surging teams without Oladipo.

On Saturday, the Pacers fell to the Memphis Grizzlies, 106-103. The team struggled down the stretch in their first full game without their main man. The defeat snaps the team's recent three-game winning streak.

Things are only going to get more difficult for the Pacers, as they are slated to face off against the defending champs, the Golden State Warriors, on Monday night.
