The Indiana Pacers have found themselves in the forefront of the news cycle after putting forth possible tampering charges against the Los Angeles Lakers involving All-Star forward Paul George.

According to Bob Kravitz of WTHR, it's something that the smaller-market teams are applauding the Pacers as they exert effort to keep the bigger brand teams in line.

In fact, there’s word that other small- and mid-market team officials have reached out to the Pacers and told them, “Good for you. Fight the good fight.”

Although this looks like a bit of sour grapes from the Pacers for pursuing this against the Lakers now that George has departed, there may be something there. The current investigation from the league is focused in on Magic Johnson.

If there is something to this, it could lead to the Lakers possibly losing draft picks, up to $5 million in fines, and potentially being blocked from signing or trading for George. This may have some serious repercussions that could have a major impact on the franchise's future if there was indeed some tampering going on.

That said, this entire situation should sort itself out in the coming weeks well ahead of the 2017-18 season in order to prevent a potential distraction from arising.
