The Green Bay Packers were the talk of the NFL in Week 1, but not for the right reasons. They were blown out by the New Orleans Saints, with QB Aaron Rodgers playing arguably his worst game ever. While he's been the subject of criticism all week long, NFL legend Michael Irvin is the latest to speak out on the matter. Via TMZ Sports:

“This game is too hard. So when you're thinking about retiring, the saying is, you're already retired. Rodgers was thinking about not playing any more and it really showed, man.”

Irvin ain't sugarcoating it. The Packers star did say he considered retirement during the summer amid the ongoing feud with Green Bay. But, to be fair, Rodgers is the reigning MVP and one of the best quarterbacks in today's game.

He threw two interceptions last Sunday and completed just 15 of 28 passing attempts while failing to throw for a passing touchdown. It was certainly a forgettable performance for Rodgers, but he took full responsibility for the loss post-game.

It's unlikely we see another showing like this from the Packers quarterback, but Michael Irvin definitely believes that his thoughts about retiring played a part. Who knows if there's any truth to that, though. Nonetheless, Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay will be looking to bounce back on Monday Night Football against Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions.
