Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander suffered a broken thumb during his team's loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, according to Tom Silverstein of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Alexander sustained the injury during the third quarter and did not return. He logged three tackles before exiting.

The good news is that Alexander, who said he will not be undergoing surgery to repair the issue, will have plenty of time to heal.

Alexander played in every game this season and was impressive, finishing with 58 tackles, a couple of interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 17 passes defended.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Louisville, was originally selected by the Packers in the first round (18th pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 13 contests during his rookie campaign, totaling 66 tackles, a half of a sack, a pick, a pair of fumble recoveries and 11 passes defended.

Green Bay won 13 games this season, capturing the NFC North division title and locking up a first-round bye in the process. The Packers then went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round before falling to the 49ers.

It marked the second time Green Bay had lost to San Francisco during the 2019-10 campaign, as the Niners also hammered the Packers by a score of 37-8 back in Week 12.

Although Green Bay fell short, the season has to be considered a success for first-year coach Matt LaFleur, who took the Packers back to the playoffs for the first time in three years.
