The Green Bay Packers were down three to the Arizona Cardinals late in the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field when Mike McCarthy sent out kicker Mason Crosby for the would be game-tying 49-yard field goal. Crosby missed his eighth kick, including extra points, of the year as time expired and the Packers fell to 4-7-1.

After the kick, Crosby looked at his holder, punter JK Scott, as if to ask what happened on the hold.

The Packers have been struggling all year, and this loss appears to be the final nail in the coffin to their playoff hopes.

Arizona came into the game with a 2-9 record and were able to beat the Packers in their own stadium. Aaron Rodgers completed 31 of 50 passing attempts for just 233 yards and a single touchdown, but they still had an opportunity to win in overtime before Crosby missed.

This is Crosby's 12th season in the league, all have which been with the Packers. He's currently converting 75.8 percent of his field goals this season. That percentage would be the third worst of his career.

It hasn't only been Crosby, as kickers across the league have been missing at an exorbitant rate. For example, rookie kicker Daniel Carlson missed all three field goals he took for the Vikings during their week 2 29-29 tie with the Packers.

Carlson was cut the next day. Had he been able to convert just one, then Green Bay would have already been eliminated from the playoffs. However, the Atlanta Falcons come to Lambeau Field next week.

Crosby and the Packers will try to rebound, but FiveThirtyEight still gives them a one percent chance of making the playoffs this season.
