The Green Bay Packers have not had superstar wide receiver Davante Adams available to them since Week 4.

Adams has been dealing with a toe injury and his status for Week 9 is still unknown.

However, head coach Matt LaFleur spoke out on the status of Adams on Thursday.

LaFleur clearly is not sure about the status of Adams for Week 9 either. Obviously, the Packers would love to have him available to them when they face off with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, as of now the status is still just “day by day.” That makes it sound as if LaFleur and the Packers don't want to commit to any definite answer.

While that is not exactly good news, it's not bad news either. Sure, Green Bay is not sure if Adams will be available, but that means there is still a chance he will play as well.

While Adams is the best weapon the Packers have for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, they have proven they won't be lost without him.

Green Bay is 4-0 since Adams went down. They have gone through a number of good teams in that time. Due to that, it is not absolutely necessary for Adams to play in Week 9. Even without him they should be able to handle themselves.

That being said, obviously having Adams would never hurt. Over the last few seasons, he has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He has also been the most reliable target that Rodgers has had in a long time.

Even if he doesn't return this week, it appears Adams is getting closer to making his way back onto the field. That is news every Packers fan should love.
