Is the clock ticking on Aaron Rodgers' time in Green Bay? Based on the fact that the Packers just took Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with their first-round draft pick, it seems like it is.

While Rodgers doesn't have a potential out in his deal (which runs through 2023) until 2021, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk seems to think that the veteran could be on his way out of Wisconsin as soon as next offseason.

Florio notes that if Green Bay trades Rodgers before his $6.8 million roster bonus is due on the third day of the NFL's league year in 2021, it would actually create $4.796 in cap space and save $22 million.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while the Packers would have to absorb a $31.556 million cap hit if they trade Rodgers between now and 2021, they would have to eat a $36.352 million cap charge if Rodgers is on the roster in 2021 anyway.

So, regardless, Rodgers is going to cost Green Bay a lot of money, whether the club keeps him or moves him.

Florio also says that the Packers are more likely to get good value for Rodgers at age 37 rather than age 38, which obviously makes sense.

Rodgers has spent the first 15 years of his NFL career in Green Bay and has been the team's starting signal-caller since 2008. Since then, the 36-year-old has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks of his era, winning a Super Bowl and a pair of MVP awards on top of making eight Pro Bowl appearances.

However, the University of California product has shown clear signs of a decline over the last couple of years.
