The Mike McCarthy era is over in Green Bay.

Another disappointing loss led to his release Sunday after the Green Bay Packers went on to lose a close one against the Arizona Cardinals, 20-17.

Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin takes over his reigns and hopes that he could stop the thing's bleeding with four weeks to go in the regular season.

The Packers are going nowhere in their 2018 campaign. Their 4-7-1 record is currently 11th place in the NFC. This is their worst record in 12 games since 2006.

McCarthy took over the Packers in 2006 after Mike Sherman's firing, and his tenure there has been impressive. In 13 seasons with the team, he was able to lead them to nine playoff appearances, including eight straight from 2009-2016.

Above all, McCarthy coached the Packers to their first Super Bowl win since the 1996 season as they won over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl 45.

ProFootballTalk suggests that the Packers look at Bruce Arians' way.

The former Arizona Cardinals head coach has recently expressed his intent to return to the sidelines. But he stated that he would only coach for the Browns in case he makes a comeback.

Arians took over the Cardinals in 2013 and coached them to a 49-30 record with two playoff appearances. He turned the franchise from a ragtag team into playoff contenders. During the 2015 season, they reached the NFC Championship but came up short against the Panthers.

After missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year, Bruce Arians retired after the 2017 season.

The two-time Coach of the Year Awardee is a viable option for the Packers' head coaching position. Working him with Aaron Rodgers is a good idea as Arians has already displayed his ability to mentor Carson Palmer in the past.
