The Green Bay Packers ended the 2020 season with bad taste in their mouth despite Aaron Rodgers winning MVP. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took it to the Packers and beat them in the playoffs. From there, a terrible offseason surrounding Rodgers' future ensued and led all the way up to Week 1 of this season.

The Packers got blown out by the New Orleans Saints and people immediately began questioning whether this offseason could've derailed the Packers. In Week 2, Rodgers put any of that to bed with a dominant win. Nonetheless, let's take a gander at our Packers Week 2 takeaways after they drubbed the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

Packers Week 2 Takeaways

1. Aaron Jones can be elite when fed the ball

Packers running back Aaron Jones was involved more than anyone else in the Packers offensive game plan in Week 2 and he showed by fans want him to get the ball like this more often. Jones carried the ball 17 times for 67 yards and a touchdown but his best production came in the air all night long. He caught six passes for 48 yards and three receiving touchdowns. If you were playing against him in Fantasy Football then this was probably a painful night, but this was one of Jones' best games of his career.

In terms of overall usage, this was a top 10 game of his career for Jones and it was the same way in terms of statistics because of the touchdown. The Packers throughout the career have Aaron Jones have used a backup running back very often in rotation with Jones, frustrating fans who have seen what Jones can do. With Jamaal Williams no longer in Green Bay, the main guy behind Jones is second year unproven running back AJ Dillon who is fine but this is allowing Jones to be let loose. He's taking full advantage of the opportunity.

2. Aaron Rodgers is all the way back

While watching the Peyton and Eli Manning broadcast, Brett Favre mentioned that we can count Aaron Rodgers terrible games on one hand. His Week 1 performance against the Saints absolutely goes on that hand and it caused people to ask whether this awkward offseason could have derailed him. Rodgers completed 15 of his 28 passes with zero touchdowns and two interceptions with one of the worst passer ratings of his career. Obviously not good, but Rodgers made sure to let everyone know in Week 2 that he hadn't gone anywhere.

The Week 2 matchup against Detroit was set up for Rodgers to succeed and prove everyone wrong. Monday Night Primetime with a division rival in town for Rodgers to carve up and he didn't disappoint. Rodgers threw 27 passes and completed 22 of them with four touchdowns and zero interceptions. His passer rating was 145.6 which was nearly 110 points over his performance in Week 1. He had some vintage Rodgers passes to his receivers and found the right guy on all four of his touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers is back.

3. Packers defense will be inconsistent but not terrible

We saw all the way from the start of Week 1 up until halftime of the Week 2 matchup against the Lions that the Packers defense can be pretty terrible. The Saints scored 38 points with Jameis Winston leading the way and Jared Goff started the Week 2 game completing his first nine passes. Cornerback Kevin King started the game getting burned a couple times immediately and led to the Lions scoring an opening drive touchdown. The run defense started shake against D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams. As the game progressed, the defense improved.

In the second half of Week 2, the packers defense was better but it wasn't anything to write home about. Still, any defense is taken with Rodgers at quarterback because he should be able to overcome some bad defense. The Packers just need this inconsistent group to force some timely turnovers and get the big fourth down stops, which is exactly what they did last night to keep the Lions quiet as Aaron Rodgers kept driving down the field to feed Aaron Jones and Davante Adams.
