The Baker Mayfield era is over in Cleveland. But what the Browns plan to do with Baker Mayfield is still anybody's guess. The Carolina Panthers have been reported as a potential trade destination in the past week, and they may just be in the lead to land a deal.

According to a recent report Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, a Mayfield move to the Panthers continues to gain momentum.

Via PFT's Mike Florio:

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Panthers have “the inside track to land” to land Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

However, while the latest report seems to push forward the Baker Mayfield-to-Carolina train, there aren't exactly any new details hinting at the wheels turning faster than before. It also mentioned other interested teams other than the Panthers but didn't specify who exactly those were.

The move supposedly “could happen sometime over the next couple of weeks.” Which could be bad news for Robby Anderson, who made it clear that this isn't something he'd prefer to happen.

The Panthers have gone from Sam Darnold to Cam Newton and now potentially Baker Mayfield. The quarterback situation still seems very much in flux in Carolina, so we will see how this all plays out.
