Despite their struggles this season, the Carolina Panthers are planning to stick with head coach Matt Rhule in 2022, per ESPN.

Rhule hasn't exactly excelled as a HC, going just 10-22 ahead of Week 18 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers currently sit at 5-11 on the season which puts them at the bottom of the NFC South.

Rhule let go offensive coordinator Joe Brady with five games left in the campaign and will reportedly begin his search for a replacement immediately. Rhule wanted Brady to commit more to a running game, but he refused.

The Panthers have been hit with injuries during Rhule's time in charge, especially across the last two seasons. Christian McCaffrey has barely played in 2020 and 21′, while Sam Darnold missed time with a shoulder injury. However, the Carolina fans have voiced their displeasure with Rhule, even chanting that he should be fired.

The quarterback position has been the biggest reason Rhule has struggled during his time with the Panthers. Cam Newton, who is back with the team now, isn't living up to expectations and the same thing happened with Teddy Bridgewater before they moved on from him.

Carolina hasn't had a winning season since 2017 but they appear to believe Matt Rhule can change that.
