The Carolina Panthers can't seem to shake off their string of bad luck. They looked awful against the Miami Dolphins and Cam Newton eventually got benched for PJ Walker. However, the latest update on Christian McCaffrey shakes up the franchise yet again.

According to Omar Kelly, “Christian McCaffrey is in a walking boot on his left leg.” The Panthers' superstar running back has struggled to stay healthy and that trend seems to continue.

McCaffrey rolled his ankle during the game against the Dolphins. He “tried to come back from (the) rolled ankle and just wasn't at the same level,” per Joe Person. Matt Rhule and the Panthers' coaching staff felt it was best for McCaffrey to remain on the sideline.

This is troubling news for Panthers fans. However, it might not be as bad as the injury is perceived. According to David J. Chao, the walking boot may just be “for precaution.” We'll get more information regarding Christian McCaffrey's ankle, but considering Carolina is going into a bye week, fans can feel a bit more optimistic for now.

We'll see what happens, as the Panthers will monitor McCaffrey closely. He's their superstar player and gives Carolina their best chances of winning. The bye week is a blessing for this franchise, as it will give McCaffrey and the entire team a week of much-needed rest.

Additionally, this bye week will give Cam Newton extra time to learn the playbook and build chemistry with his teammates. Look for the Panthers to potentially bounce back with a big performance in Week 14.
