Former Carolina Panthers guard Jeremiah Sirles spent less than a year playing with quarterback Cam Newton, but he saw enough to know there is something still wrong with his shoulder.

On Friday, Sirles appeared on KFAN's Power Trip After Party and was asked about playing alongside Newton and one thing that came up was his arm strength the first couple of games before he went down with the foot injury.

Sirles said he thinks Newton is really hurt because he doesn't have the zip on passes that he used to. Sirles used one of his throws to Curtis Samuel as an example. Samuel was running down the sideline and had an easy touchdown if Newton just threw it out in front of him. Instead, it was thrown behind him and Samuel had to come back and adjust to it before bringing it in.

Sirles wouldn't go as far as saying he thinks it could force him to retire, but it's pretty clear that it's something that needs to be figured out because Newton isn't the same quarterback.

Currently, Newton is dealing with a foot injury and it's unclear when he will be back.

“What Cam needs right now is time and rest for his foot,” coach Ron Rivera said in a statement Monday. “We want him at 100 percent when he's ready, so there's no exact timetable for his return. At this point, we're going to go forward with Kyle (Allen) as our starter.”

Rivera is right that Newton needs rest for his foot and hopefully some rest for his shoulder can help too.
