Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has made it clear that he is ready to take on an increased role in the offense this year. It appears he has a firm believer in Hall of Fame running back, LaDainian Tomlinson

The arrival of new offensive coordinator Norv Turner has brought a newfound sense of optimism to Carolina. Tomlinson said during an appearance on WFZN Radio that Turner will be able to get the most out of McCaffrey.

“I think Norv is gonna find the best way to utilize Christian,” said Tomlinson. “And he's gonna do the things that Christian does well. I really think Norv has unique ways of getting guys in space, especially backs like myself and Christian McCaffrey. He's gonna get him in space and you're gonna be able to see the phenomenal talent that Christian has in space and on the perimeter and catching the ball out of the backfield.”

This is certainly some high praise coming from Tomlinson. His comments carry plenty of weight considering he was once a product of Turner's system. He enjoyed tremendous success under him during his time with the San Diego Chargers. That said, Panthers' fans are gleaming at the prospect of Turner utilizing McCaffrey the same way he did Tomlinson.

There is good reason for the Hall of Famer's optimism considering McCaffrey showed plenty of promise during his rookie year. Much like Tomlinson, his versatile skill set as both a runner and a receiver makes him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. However, he will first need to fend off carries from running back C.J. Anderson to establish himself as a potential workhorse.
