Norv Turner took over as the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator last year, and during his first season with the club, things went pretty well, as the Panthers finished ranked 10th in the NFL in total offense.

But Carolina probably would have been even better had it not been for a shoulder issue that plagued quarterback Cam Newton throughout the second half of the year, ultimately knocking him out for the final two games of the regular season.

Now that Newton is on the mend and the Panthers have a full year of experience playing in Turner's system, Turner is expecting big things from his offense in 2019.

“His second year in a system, there was change for Cam last year, change for me,” Turner said, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. “With the young players, their second year, we should see some real growth—D.J. [Moore], and Curtis Samuel, and even Christian [McCaffrey]. I think that we can be a really, really explosive offense, and his ability to do so many things makes it really hard for defenses, and we’ll still mix some things in where he’s the featured ballcarrier. We know it starts with him.”

The Panthers certainly have plenty of potential, as we know what a healthy Newton can do, and McCaffrey and Moore are terrific talents who are both coming off very impressive campaigns.

Carolina won just seven games this past year, going 1-7 over its final eight games largely due to Newton's shoulder injury. The Panthers have made the playoffs in four of the last six seasons.
