Tre Boston is finally off the market, inking a one-year, $3 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. Boston is an interesting case study, since he's been a very good safety the past couple of years but has been unable to land big money.

He took a while to sign last year as well, before he ultimately inked a one year deal with the Cardinals. Teams across the league are starting to value safeties a little less, and only the top guys command great money. Boston is somewhere in an in-between zone, and he's had to settle two years in a row.

That being said, Boston isn't going to let his disappointment affect his mindset for the coming season.

“Once you sign you just have to put it to the side,” Boston said of his desire for a longterm deal, via Max Henson of the Panthers' official site. “For me, it’s all about honing in and having fun again. Kind of have to let that go.”

The Panthers originally drafted Boston back in 2014, so he's back where he started his career. Boston is happy about the homecoming, saying “the fans did a great job” welcoming him back.

“They embraced me and now are welcoming me back. The players wanting me back means a lot. It’s an amazing feeling.”

Boston has eight interceptions over the last two years, and is capable of playing at a high level. This late in the process, he's a very nice addition to Carolina's secondary.

Boston said the Panthers told him he was a missing piece for their team, and he also made it clear he's confident in his ability.

“I believe I’m one of the best in the league. Stats show it. I looked at the depth chart and said we can be something special. It’s about getting my job done and being accountable. I have to play my ball and have fun doing it.”

The Panthers are certainly expecting big things from him this season.
