The Carolina Panthers needed a big play against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fortunately, linebacker Brian Burns was able to oblige.

Burns scored his first career NFL touchdown by returning a fumble caused by linebacker Mario Addison, via NFL Twitter:

The Panthers made quite the investment in Burns when they took him with the 16th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has quickly managed to justify the pick by emerging as an integral part of the defense.

Burns came into the game having recorded 2.5 sacks, 11 tackles, and nine QB pressures to go with two blocked punts en route to NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month honors. It is clear that he is already starting to make his case to repeat next month with a scoop for a touchdown.

Although Carolina is still trying to make some headway in the NFC South, they can take solace in the fact that they boast one of the more formidable front sevens in the league.
