It appears Patrick Kane's time with the Chicago Blackhawks could be coming to an end after a long tenure featuring three Stanley Cups and a number of individual accolades. The Blackhawks are embarking on a full rebuild after trading away Alex DeBrincat and others, and now the assumption is Kane and Jonathan Toews will be next.

With his championship window closing and a constant craving to return to the postseason, Kane's best chance at achieving this will be with a new team. Chicago could keep the veteran stars around for the time being, but the star forward could ask out in the near future.

Having said all this, let's now discuss the four best trade destinations for Patrick Kane in the 2022 NHL offseason.

Patrick Kane 2022 NHL offseason trade destinations

4. Buffalo Sabres

As a New York native who lives there in the offseason, this move seems like an obvious one. Despite the Buffalo Sabres not having made the postseason in nine seasons (the longest active playoff drought in the NHL), there's still plenty of upside for Patrick Kane to consider in this hypothetical trade scenario. For the Sabres, adding a superstar of Kane's caliber could be the trade that gets them back into the playoff mix in 2023.

As a team loaded with young talent, adding a veteran presence with  Kane's championship experience would give them a more complete and cohesive roster that would be able to compete in the Eastern Conference once again. It may be a bit of a long shot for the Sabres to pull this off, but it'd be the ultimate homecoming for Kane to finish out his career on.

3. Edmonton Oilers

Coming off a deep playoff run where they fell to the eventual Stanley Cup champs, the Edmonton Oilers are another team that would thrive with Patrick Kane in their lineup. Just the very idea of Connor McDavid attacking the goal with Patrick Kane is something that would give opposing defenses all kinds of headaches. For a team hoping to win their first title since 1990, this is one move that could take them back to the promised land.

2. Colorado Avalanche

Coming off an epic Stanley Cup victory with a stacked core, the Colorado Avalanche could repeat as champions with the addition of Patrick Kane. This trade would undoubtedly make them the most unbeatable team in the league — especially if they're able to retain Nazem Kadri in NHL free agency. Plus the recent departure of Andre Burakovsky does leave an opening for the Avalanche.

Kane could come right in and fill a major area of need for the Avs. His electric scoring, passing and playmaking would fit right in with elite talents like Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, and Cale Makar. If the Avalanche are looking to repeat as NHL champions in dominant fashion, then this is a trade they should strongly consider.

1. New York Rangers

For a team that was two games away from a Stanley Cup Final appearance this past season, the addition of a battle-hardened champion like Patrick Kane could be their missing recipe. He'd also be a major upgrade for them on the right wing. Even at 33 years of age, Kane has yet to show any real signs of slowing down, and his consistently high level of production is something the Rangers could definitely use.

This would be a powerful combination as he'd be playing alongside Mika Zibanejad, Vincent Trochek, and Artemi Panarin, among others. With Kane back home in the bright lights of New York City, the Rangers could make a long anticipated return to the Stanley Cup Final in 2023. This would give Kane his best chance at winning a fourth title and finishing out his playing career on a high note.
