The New England Patriots made another change at quarterback during Monday night's lopsided loss to the Buffalo Bills. After making the decision to switch quarterbacks, Bill Belichick was hesitant to speak about the team's quarterback situation with Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham.

“Game was over about 10, 15 minutes ago,” Belichick said when asked about Newton and Stidham after the game, via the Providence Journal. “Haven’t made any plans for next week obviously being it’s 15 minutes old.”

Despite his season-long struggles through the air, Belichick has remained adamant about Newton being the starting quarterback. However, with the Patriots entering Week 17 with nothing to play for, Belichick refrained from naming a starter against the New York Jets.

Newton began Monday night's contest completing only 5 of his 10 attempts for 34 yards, though one of his incompletions was a crucial drop by Damiere Byrd in the first quarter. In the second half, Belichick elected to insert Stidham under center in hopes of inciting a spark on offense.

Similar to Newton, Stidham would struggle, completing only four of his 11 attempts for 44 yards. With both quarterbacks failing to show enough to have confidence in starting them, Belichick has a choice to make entering the final week of the season.

In all likelihood, Newton is going to be one-and-done in New England due to him looking like a shadow of his former self for the majority of the regular season. Provided that, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Stidham is named the starter in Week 17 so the Patriots can get one last look at him before next year's draft.
