New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman admitted he tried to sell a head injury against the Buffalo Bills to try and get out of a penalty. Edelman was involved in a pick play and was blown up Bills safety Jordan Boyer. The former college quarterback laid motionless on the ground for a few moments before popping up to this feet.

“I was trying to sell it,” a smiling Edelman said of his playacting on the turf via Bill Pennington of Boston.com. “Hopefully, they didn’t see it.”

Edelman later was pulled out of the game to be evaluated for a concussion and missed almost an entire quarter before he was allowed to return to the field. Matthew Slater referred to him as Lazurus, who Christians believe was risen from the dead by Jesus four days after he died.

“Oh, you mean Lazarus?” Slater said when asked about Edelman. “He was kind of funny the way he laid out there. But Edelman came back from the dead.”

Tom Brady called the play unfortunate, but was glad his favorite target was able to return to the field and still have an impact on the game.

“It was an unfortunate play,” Brady, who completed 26 of 33 passes for 271 yards, said of Edelman’s penalty and subsequent absence. “I was glad he came back because he made a big play right away.”

Not many players have been known to fake concussions in the NFL and it is a bit concerning that Edelman would try considering how serious of an injury they are. It's good to know that Edelman didn't suffer one though. Hopefully, next time he won't fake one when he's in a similar situation.
