Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu returned to New England Patriots practice on Friday (in a limited fashion). However, he remains, officially, questionable to play in Sunday's Week 12 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys with an ankle injury.

Though officially questionable, there are reports that Sanu may not play at all. According to the sources of Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, he is not expected to play.

Sanu suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 11's win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It is not considered serious. If he does not play against the Cowboys, there is a good chance that he will travel to Houston to face the Texans in Week 13.

In all, Sanu will likely be a game-time decision for Sunday's highly anticipated matchup with the Cowboys.

If Sanu were to miss Sunday's game, Tom Brady would be throwing to Julian Edelman, rookie N'Keal Harry, rookie Jakobi Meyers, and Phillip Dorsett. However, Dorsett remains questionable after he suffered a concussion against Philadelphia.

The Patriots acquired Sanu in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 22. New England sent a 2020 second-round selection in exchange for the 30-year-old wide receiver. Since the acquisition, the veteran has 14 receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown in three games (one start).

The hope is that Sanu will give the Patriots' offense a much-needed boost in talent. Though 9-1, New England's offense has struggled in 2019. Rather than another MVP caliber season from Tom Brady, the Patriots are riding a stout defense and special teams unit to their success in 2019.
