The New England Patriots are making the final cuts to complete the team that will get a seventh Super Bowl in the Tom Brady era. The latest casualty from Belichick's hammer is Braxton Berrios.

Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news through Twitter:

Berrios was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and was already at the bottom of the depth chart by the time he was cut. The former Miami (FL) wideout failed to make a single appearance in a Pats uniform before getting cut.

However, this is not a complete knock at his ability as a football player. The former Miami Hurricane had a productive career in his four years at the Hard Rock Stadium. He made 1,175 receiving yards over 100 receptions in his four years of college football.

The main reason for his failure to play a snap of football can be pointed at the amount of talent available to Belichick. Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, and Demaryius Thomas are all donning Pats colors and are some of the best wideouts in the game.

Moreover, he has no chance with players like N'Keal Harry and Ryan Davis coming in this year. Harry, in particular, posted exciting numbers in college and will most likely get snaps in games. With that in consideration, Berrios is a surplus that the Pats can do without.

However, he still has a shot with another NFL team. As long as he keeps his head down and focuses on improving his game, he has a shot at getting another contract within the season.
