Stop asking which planet or dimension where the Jacksonville Jaguars are ranked higher than the New England Patriots – because it’s the same place where you’re in.

With a ton of preseason rankings cluttering the internet today, it’s hard to stand out among the rest, but Elliott Harrison of NFL.com just knows the exact formula to get traffic and that’s by having more confidence in Blake Bortles and company than in the combined genius of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

Shocked? Don't be. Sure, this is a nod to what the Jaguars accomplished last season and how strong they are heading into the preseason. Going beyond those factors, the absences of Julian Edelman (and others) in New England and Aaron Donald in Los Angeles weaken the Patriots and Rams enough to allow Jacksonville to move up another notch. Of course, so much depends on Blake Bortles' play at quarterback. If he fares like he did in the 2017 postseason, Jacksonville will beat New England come Week 2.

It’s a hot take indeed, but Harrison was also sold on what the Jags did last season when the team surprisingly topped the AFC South with a 10-6 record – their first non-losing slate since going 11-5 back in 2007 – and made it all the way into the AFC Championship Game. Jacksonville lost to the Pats in that game, 24-20, but they proved they could hang with the legendary franchise.

Harrison isn’t wrong, though, by saying that Jacksonville will go as far as the arm of Bortles takes them. The Jags’ defense will be solid and could even be better, especially downfield with Pro Bowler A.J. Bouye joining the team’s secondary unit.

Vegas is not on the same page as Harrison, though, as the Pats are still the top favorite to win Super Bowl 53.
