In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the NFL will be sporting an entirely new look for the upcoming season. The way players have played their whole lives is going to change, for many different reasons. From the empty stadiums to the intense safety protocol, players will have to adjust to a lot of things. New England Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty predicts how these changes will impact the game early on.

The current Patriot and former Rutgers standout shared his opinion with the Boston Herald:

“For the fandom, it’ll be good to see teams figure out timing and matchups on the fly. It should make it into a more raw football product, and better defensive game,” he said. “More raw is roughly a way to put it, but it’s probably not going to be as good of a product early on.”

The upcoming season will be dependent on which team will be able to adapt and adjust faster to the new playing conditions. Outside of the field, the various protocols for players and personnel to follow completely alters the lifestyle that they were accustomed to back then.

After months of endless conversations, the NFL and the NFLPA are finally on the same page. Unnecessary preseason games were officially canceled. Daily coronavirus testing for the players will also be implemented. These were the recent alterations made for the upcoming season to ensure player safety.

McCourty and the rest of the Patriots are also in an adjustment phase of their own. 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton is looking to potentially step in as the team's primary playmaker.

Patriots nation will see their team in action for the first time against the Miami Dolphins. Their season officially starts on September 13.
