As soon as the New England Patriots signed Antonio Brown, comparisons to Randy Moss were immediately made.

Moss was an insanely talented wide receiver who caused locker-room issues and was considered a risk. The Patriots took that risk back in 2007 and went on to have a historic 18-1 season that was ended by the New York Giants in the Super Bowl.

Basically, the argument is that New England has taken on malcontents before and has succeeded with them.

But FOX Sports analyst and Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe thinks the Brown to Moss comparison is apples to oranges:

Sharpe mentions fellow wide receiver Chad Johnson (also known as Chad Ochocinco) and defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth as talented players with questionable attitudes who didn't work out for the Pats.

He also notes that while Moss played in an era where social media had not yet been prevalent, he doesn't think he was as big of a distraction as Brown has been.

There were isolated incidents with Moss, but Sharpe is right: it doesn't seem like Moss behaved anywhere close to the way Brown has over this last year, and now with rape allegations hanging over Brown's head, the Moss comparisons should probably stop.

The Patriots signed Brown on Monday after the wideout was released from the Oakland Raiders last weekend, as per his request.

Antonio Brown was originally acquired by the Raiders from the Pittsburgh Steelers back in March.

The 31-year-old practiced for the first time with the Pats on Wednesday.
