Preseason is a time for everyone to shake off the rust as the season officially begins. Everyone from veterans and rookies to head coaches trying to get back into the swing of things. And apparently, even the people that are in charge of putting the names on the jerseys.

One person for the New England Patriots misspelled Stephen Gostkowski's last name for the preseason opener. There was a glaring mistake as the name read “Gostowski” instead of what the veteran kicker's last name is where there is a clear missing of the “K” in the last name.

There have been plenty of egregious errors to players' last names in the NFL's 100 years. There are a multitude of butchered last names from the infamous Brett Favre mispronunciation in the NFL Draft.

And this isn't even the first time that this has happened to a kicker either as this has also happened to Steven Hauschka before. Kickers aren't the only ones that have gone through a name misspelling before on a jersey either as Prince Amukamara went through the same thing last season.

It's something that has been a part of sports for some time now even outside of the NFL. Take for instance the Washington Nationals having their jerseys misspelled to read “Natinals” that happened ten years ago.

It's an honest mistake that Stephen Gostkowski shouldn't be too upset about with the preseason opener out of the way. However, the missing “K” on his jersey may have gotten to him as he missed his first field goal attempt of the night.
