Since Tom Brady decided to leave the New England Patriots this offseason, there has been a continuous supply of storylines featuring what happened behind closed doors. In an article for the Boston Sports Journal, Greg A. Bedard alleges that Brady ‘checked out' in 2018 after a late-season loss.

Back in 2018, everything seemed to be going smoothly for the Patriots late in the season. They were boasting a 9-4 record entering a Week 15 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The offense was running on all cylinders, scoring 20 or more points in 12 of their first 14 contests.

However, in Week 15 versus the Steelers, Brady and company failed to show much of anything offensively. After a defensive battle in Pittsburgh, New England would lose the game, 17-10. While it seemed like it was a typical hard-fought loss, it could've been the beginning of the end of Brady's career in Foxborough.

Nearly a week ago, it was reported that Brady's strained relationship with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels led to his demise in New England. Soon after those reports surfaced, the future Hall of Fame quarterback quickly refuted them.

As a result of the 2018 loss to the Steelers, there seemed to be a shift in New England's offense. Even though they won the Super Bowl that year, the Patriots won it by running the ball and playing stingy defense. Therefore, it's assumed that Brady wasn't a fan of not being able to have more control over the offense.

Of course, similar to most instances, everyone is curious as to why Brady chose to leave the Patriots. In all likeliness, we'll never receive the true reason as to why he left after 20 seasons in New England. Unless Brady tells his side, everyone is going to keep making assumptions.
