New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has officially passed Peyton Manning for most career touchdown passes in NFL history.

Brady connected with wide receiver Julian Edelman in the second quarter to earn his 580th career passing touchdown, which helped the five-time Super Bowl champion pass the former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos great at the top of the all-time standings.

The record consists of touchdown passes thrown in both the regular season and the playoffs, and Brady has certainly compiled more than enough of those to produce one of the most productive careers in the NFL history.

Brett Favre is currently third on the list with 552 career touchdowns through the air.

It hasn't been Brady's most spectacular season from a statistical standpoint, but he still entered the game with 3,342 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing eight interceptions.

That's been enough to help the Patriots earn a 9-3 record to this point, with another playoff appearance likely in the works thanks to the play of Brady and company.

But when you focus in on the record itself, it just furthers the case for the New England quarterback as perhaps the best to ever play the position.

Yes, players like Manning and former San Francisco 49ers star Joe Montana would have plenty to say about that, but there's no arguing Brady's incredible success to this point in his career.

And what's even more impressive is that he probably still has several seasons ahead to help him keep pushing his record-breaking number even higher.
