Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been left out of the France national team squad after testing positive for coronavirus, manager Didier Deschamps confirmed on Thursday.

“Unfortunately for him, he took a test yesterday, which turned out positive,” said Deschamps, according to Goal.

Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will take Pogba's place for the two upcoming fixtures.

Pogba joined Tottenham Hotspur compatriot Tanguy Ndombele as two cogs left out of the French team due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Paulogba had been named among the chosen few for a France squad awaiting games against Croatia and Sweden, though he had since been forced out of consideration in light of his condition. Pogba is said to be asymptomatic.

The Manchester United star will now have to spend 14 days in isolation, which will cause him to miss the start of Manchester United's preseason activities, which are slated to start next week after an extended 2019-20 season saw them reach the Europa League semifinals before losing to Valencia.

Barring complications, Paul Pogba should be fit to play for Manchester United in the 2020-21 Premier League season-opener against Crystal Palace on September 19. The Red Devils will get to start their Premier League season a week later than the majority of other clubs, due to their long run in the Europa League.

As for France, Paul Pogba's replacement Camavinga, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, along with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, have been called up to the France senior squad for the first time and should see some run against Croatia and Sweden soon.
