Various NBA players have already expressed their support to Ukraine following the invasion of Russia. On Wednesday night, the entire New Orleans Pelicans showed solidarity for Ukraine by making a simple yet touching gesture in their home game against the Sacramento Kings.

The Pelicans wore yellow socks and blue jerseys as a tribute to the colors of the flag of Ukraine. According to a report by Sports Illustrated, the move was announced by the team before tipoff. It's worth noting that Kings center Alex Len hails from Ukraine, so he must have greatly appreciated the gesture. The Kings have earlier expressed their support to Ukraine.

It was definitely a cool move on the part of the Pelicans. While some camps are maintaining a neutral stance on the matter, the squad went the extra mile to send a message of support to Ukraine.

Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas, in particular, has been vocal about the issue. His home country of Lithuania is located near Ukraine, and he wishes that the war will be over as soon as possible.

ā€œFirst of all, I want to say that my heart and prayers go to Ukrainian people. Innocent people who are suffering, dying, and losing their loved onesā€”men who are defending the country. War is not a solution. War has to stop.ā€

Aside from the Pelicans and the Kings, the Toronto Raptors have also expressed support to Ukraine, as their backup guard Svi Mykhailiuk hails from the embattled country.
