Former NBA All-Defensive First Team selection Jrue Holiday sent out a heartfelt thank you message to the city of New Orleans after learning that he had been traded from the Pelicans to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Holiday was a force to be reckoned with in The Crescent City. The former UCLA standout served seven seasons with the Pelicans, and fans of the team grew to love his style of play.

As part of his message, the former Pelicans talent noted that he and his family will always hold a special place in their hearts for the city of New Orleans:

The Bucks acquired Holiday as part of a four-team deal. Most experts feel that this was a solid pickup, as he is viewed as one of the better defenders in the NBA. Furthermore, he has a knack for scoring and creating his own shot.

Holiday averaged 19.1 points and 6.7 assists last season while shooting 45.5 percent overall and 35.3 percent from 3-point range. Now he'll join the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton on a Milwaukee roster that will be looking to make another playoff push. Last season, the Bucks were sent home by the Miami Heat in the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs, 4-1.

The Pelicans actually sent out a tweet of their own to thank Holiday and his family for the work they put in around the community, noting that they would always have a home in New Orleans:

It's not certain how Holiday will fare in this new venture, but it's clear that he is loved in the city of New Orleans and was a valuable member of the Pelicans when on their roster.
