The New Orleans Pelicans reportedly have no interest in trading superstar big man Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the Pelicans. The All-Star power forward shares the same agent as Lakers star LeBron James, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

Anthony Davis can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020. It is widely believed in league circles that Davis wants to play with the Lakers and LeBron in Los Angeles. If the Lakers acquire The Brow, Davis would likely sign a contract extension with them.

The Lakers will most likely have to offer the Pelicans Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and multiple draft picks to acquire Anthony Davis. The Boston Celtics have the best assets to get Davis from New Orleans, but they would have to part ways with star point guard Kyrie Irving because of the “Rose Rule.”

The only way the Celtics can have Irving and Davis on the team together is when Irving opts out of his 2019-20 player option in the summer. Some believe the Pelicans are waiting until the offseason so they can work out a trade with Boston.

Trading Anthony Davis out of the Western Conference would be the smart move for New Orleans. The Spurs traded Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors, and the Timberwolves moved Jimmy Butler to the Sixers.
