The second jump of New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson is something head coach Alvin Gentry hasn't seen before.

Williamson is arguably one of the most athletic players to have ever played in the NBA, and Gentry is happy Zion is on the Pelicans and not another team:

“His second jump is ridiculous,” Gentry said about Williamson, via Nola.com. “I’ve never seen anyone that has a second jump quicker or more accurate than his. He shoots it, and he has a good feel of where it’s going to come off if it’s not going in. And I think the most important thing is he plays all of his shots as a miss. He doesn’t assume that any of them are going in. He’s on the floor and back up trying to create rebounding position on every shot. That’s why I think he gets a lot of them back.”

Despite starting off his pro career with an injury, Williamson has been an absolute beast since making his debut in January. The No. 1 overall pick from the 2019 NBA draft is making the game look way too easy and has the city of New Orleans buzzing again.

Williamson is averaging 22.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists after his first 10 games with the Pelicans, numbers which would probably garner All-Star consideration had he played the whole season. Zion is also shooting 57.6 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 65.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Alvin Gentry and his Pelicans are 23-32 after the first half of the season and are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. New Orleans needs to go on a major run in the second half of the 2019-20 campaign in order to reach the playoffs out West, as they are five and a half games behind the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies.
