New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson made a splash when it was announced that the phenom had signed with Jordan Brand before he has even played an NBA game. While it hasn't yet been revealed how much Williamson will be paid, most assume it will be one of the biggest shoe deals in history. Incredibly, sources say that Williamson was offered a higher sum by Nike rivals, but he turned it down to have the honor of wearing the Jumpman logo on his kicks:

If all goes as planned for the rookie, he doesn't have to sweat losing a few million dollars. He is expected to be the league's next big thing, and he can probably afford to take a bit of a pay cut to wear his idol's brand.

Before the signing, some though Zion might switch shoes because of his well-documented issues with Nike. In a game against UNC, Williamson had a Nike shoe burst on him mid-game, which lead to him suffering a right knee sprain.

Apparently, Williamson overlooked the fiasco and was still on board to give the brand another chance. Now, Jordan Brand has one of the most exciting players in the league locked up. It shouldn't be long before the dynamic forward has his own signature shoe, and this time it can hopefully withstand the force that Zion plays with.
