Did JJ Redick just pull off the best Halloween costume of the 2019-20 NBA season?

In a night where NBA stars show off their creativity with spooky costumes, the New Orleans Pelicans sharpshooter opted to go with a “kid-friendly” get-up, dressing up as “Emmet” from the Lego movie franchise prior to the team’s away game versus the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.

The computer-animated character appeared in two films and was brought to life by actor Chris Pratt.

With fashion becoming a big part of today’s game, more and more NBA players have embraced the spirit of Halloween over the past few seasons.

The Los Angeles Lakers seemed to have the most fun this year, with superstars LeBron James, JaVale McGee, and Kyle Kuzma all showing off their amazing costumes on social media.

The 35-year-old Redick, meanwhile, is playing his first season for the youth-laden Pelicans team after signing a two-year $26.5 million contract in the offseason. Many were surprised when Redick chose to join the rebuilding franchise instead of hooking up with a contender this season.

Redick has assumed the role of sixth man and veteran presence for coach Alvin Gendry, averaging 9.5 points on 35.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc in four games so far.

The Pelicans — who are missing the services of this year’s top draft pick Zion Williamson — are still looking for that elusive first win of the season.
