It started with a loss to a rather inferior Illinois team in Week 8 that really put Penn State coach James Franklin under the microscope yet again.

He followed it up by confusing the Week 9 opponent for Penn State, saying twice that they were preparing for Illinois when in fact they play Ohio State in Week 9 and just played the Illini.

Now, the Penn State head coach continues to make odd remarks with massive rumors swirling that he will be leaving for either the LSU or USC head coaching vacancies. Per Onward State, Franklin tried addressing the rumors on Wednesday evening.

“I think I have shown my loyalty to this team, to this program, to this community. I think I've been pretty consistent with that. There's times where you're put in challenging situations and I just always want to be able to, when I say something, it's done. And when you're talking about the future, that can be challenging. I am fiercely loyal to Penn State. I am fiercely loyal, most importantly, to these players and the staff but, there's a lot of moving parts…At some point when it's appropriate I would love to sit down with you guys and just kind of talk through college football, talk through these circumstances and situations that come up.”

It sure doesn't sound like a guy who's convincing many that he will be sticking around at Penn State for the long haul.

Franklin's name has been brought up in other head coaching vacancies in past years but he has stuck with the Nittany Lions' gig. What LSU and USC offer may end up being to appetizing for the Penn State head coach, though.

For now, Franklin will get his Penn State team prepared for Illinois (Ohio State) as they get ready to play in the Big House (the Shoe).
