For the first time in their 141 season history, the Philadelphia Phillies will play a Game 7 on Tuesday night. It's an incredible stat considering the team has advanced to 16 postseasons, never once playing a deciding seventh game.

But that will all change on Tuesday night as the Phillies look to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks and return to their second straight World Series.

After Tuesday night, there will only be three MLB teams who have not played a postseason Game 7: the Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, according to The Athletic's Jayson Stark.

The Houston Astros were unable to advance to their second consecutive MLB championship series in 2023, shockingly getting crushed in front of the home crowd in both Games 6 and 7 at Minute Maid Park.

Philadelphia will be looking for a different fate after the Diamondbacks silenced the Citizens Bank Park faithful with a 5-1 win on Monday night.

Aaron Nola struggled in the contest, allowing six hits and four earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched. He struck out four and walked two. Merrill Kelly was excellent for Arizona, pitching five innings of one-run ball while punching out eight of his own. Both Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit solo home runs in the top of the second, and that's all the offense the D-Backs would need.

Philadelphia's hopes now rest on Ranger Suarez, who will duel Brandon Pfaadt in a pitching rematch of Game 3. Both starters were excellent, but it was Arizona who came out on top 2-1 on a Ketel Marte walk-off.

The Phillies will be looking for a different result in their first ever Game 7, as they look to advance to the World Series for the second consecutive year. The Texas Rangers are waiting.
