The Detroit Pistons are the favorite to sign Joe Johnson, according to Frank Isola of The Athletic.
Johnson is in Detroit on Tuesday working out for the Pistons. The former NBA All-Star won MVP of the BIG3 League and hit the game-winning shot in the championship game:
Joe Johnson has received interest from multiple NBA teams after his productive BIG3 stint. The Pistons, who made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016, would love to add Johnson's scoring ability.
Johnson last played in the NBA in 2017-18, appearing in 55 games with the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets. A seven-time NBA All-Star, Johnson has career NBA averages of 16.0 points in 1,276 games with the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Nets, Miami Heat, Jazz and Rockets.
The Pistons have already had a strong offseason after signing Derrick Rose, Markieff Morris, Tim Frazier and Michael Beasley in free agency. Detroit also acquired Tony Snell from the Milwaukee Bucks. If the Pistons do in fact sign Johnson, they would have three players in Rose, Morris and Johnson coming off the bench who can score in bunches.
Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond are the best players on the Pistons, so the team will go as far as the two All-Stars can take them next season.
