The Detroit Pistons could reportedly trade All-Star power forward Blake Griffin before or at the 2020 February trade deadline if the upcoming season doesn't go well, according to Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

Griffin will make $34,234,964 this season, $36,595,996 in 2020-21 and has a player option worth $38,957,028 for the 2021-22 season.

Another factor to consider. If the season doesn’t go well, a healthy Griffin could offer the chance for a franchise reset via the trade market.

There’s a belief around the league that’s a strong possibility.

A league source told the Free Press before the trade deadline the Pistons could expect a future first-round pick and an asset for a healthy Griffin.

Griffin appeared in 75 games for the Pistons last season. The high-flyer put up 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pistons made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016. They got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. Griffin only played in Games 3 and 4 due to a knee injury which required surgery after the postseason ended.

Detroit won 41 games last season. The team is expected to make the playoffs again this season. However, Griffin could be on the move again if the Pistons don't play well.
